    About this cable

This Twisted 0.75mm Cable is one of the first products we ever stocked at Lampfix, and it has remained a staple ever since. It's straightforward to use once you're familiar with it—check out the video above for a quick tutorial. This cable is our most popular choice for bespoke pendants, but it's also ideal for table lamps and floor lamps.

The cable features three individual cores, each containing 24 copper strands with a total cross-sectional area of 0.75mm². Each core is double-insulated with colored PVC (brown for Live, blue for Neutral, and green/yellow for Earth) for safety and durability. The cores are braided and twisted together, and the cable is available in a variety of metallic tones to match different designs.

Capable of handling up to 6A (1440 Watts at 240 Volts), this 0.75mm flex is the industry standard for new pendants, table lamps, and floor lamps.

If you're rewiring an antique with narrow cable passages, we recommend using the 3-core 0.5mm cable instead. Although it's not the industry standard, it's thinner, more flexible, and can handle up to 720 Watts at 240 Volts. Since antiques aren't classified as newly manufactured products, they don't need to follow the same regulations, making 0.5mm cable a suitable choice for older fixtures.

    Pros and Cons

Why Buy Lampfix Twisted Braided Cable? The Pros:

    • Our textile braided flexible cables are manufactured in the UK with over 25 years of expertise.
    • The cables feature double insulation with PVC, including a transparent reinforcing layer for added protection. Avoid cheaper, single-insulated alternatives that may not meet safety standards.
    • The CE-insulated cores adhere to the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/UE and relevant BS/EN standards, ensuring high safety and quality.
    • With a temperature rating of 90°C, this cable outperforms standard PVC cables, which typically operate at a maximum of 70°C.

    Cons:

    • This cable size may not fit well with narrow cable passages in antiques.
    • It’s less straightforward to prepare, connect, and clean compared to plastic cables.
    • It is more expensive than standard plastic cables.
