Your lighting can be part of the character of your home. It may be a designer piece, a family heirloom, a vintage find or simply a well-made lamp that is worth keeping.
Our workshop rewiring and restoration service is designed to bring valued lighting safely back into use while preserving its original character wherever practical.
All work is carried out in our Stotfold workshop by experienced technicians. We take a careful, sympathetic approach, retaining original features where practical and choosing wiring, lampholders and other components to suit the age, construction and appearance of the fitting.
Book with confidence
We inspect your lamp when it arrives and agree the work with you before we begin.
Where there are visible choices — such as flex type, colour, finish or replacement lampholders — we will discuss these with you as part of agreeing the repair. We use high-quality components and British-made parts wherever suitable.
If we find anything unusual, or work is required outside the standard service you have booked, we will contact you before carrying it out. There are no unapproved additional charges.
Lampfix repair work is guaranteed for 12 months from the electrical test date, in addition to your statutory rights.
Prefer someone local?
If sending or bringing your light to our Stotfold workshop is not practical, we may be able to help you find a repairer closer to you.
Contact us with your postcode, a brief description of what needs doing and photographs where helpful. We can check our agreed repairer network and, where suitable, suggest one or two independent repairers that may be a more convenient option.
Lampfix makes the introduction only. Availability, quotation, pricing and workmanship are agreed directly with the independent repairer.
How the service works
1. Choose your lamp type
Select the options that best describe your fitting, including the type of light, number of bulbs and size band.
This gives you the price for the standard service.
The service is primarily for electrical restoration and associated lighting components. If you already know that your lamp requires structural metalwork such as welding or brazing, please contact us before booking and we will help point you in the right direction.
2. Place your order online
Book and pay for the standard service online.
You can add notes or photographs at checkout if helpful, although you do not need to diagnose the problem yourself. We will assess the fitting properly when it reaches our workshop.
Your payment covers the standard service selected. We will confirm the work with you before workshop work begins.
Changed your mind? If we have not started work on your lamp, your service payment is fully refundable.
Online consumer orders also carry the applicable statutory cancellation rights, including the usual 14-day cancellation period. If you ask us to begin within that period and then cancel after work has started, we may charge for the work already carried out. Your statutory rights are not affected.
3. Send or bring your lamp to us
Once you have placed your order, arrange for the fitting to be delivered or dropped off at:
Lampfix
Unit 6, Fen End
Stotfold
SG5 4BA
If sending the lamp, please include your order number with it.
Transport to and from Lampfix is arranged by the customer and is not included in the repair-service price.
Drop-off and collection are available by appointment during our weekday opening hours.
4. Assessment and restoration
When the fitting arrives, we inspect it and confirm what we recommend before starting work.
We retain original features wherever practical and use suitable replacement components where required. This may include agreeing details such as flex type or colour, replacement lampholders and other visible electrical components.
If we find anything outside the standard service, specialist work that we cannot carry out, or a condition that means the fitting cannot be repaired safely, we will explain this before proceeding.
If we cannot agree a suitable way forward and work has not started, your service payment will be refunded.
5. Testing and completion
Once the agreed work is complete, the fitting undergoes PAT testing and the appropriate electrical safety checks.
We normally aim to complete repair work within two weeks, subject to the availability of any special parts and any additional work agreed after assessment.
We will then let you know that the fitting is ready.
You can collect it by appointment or arrange its return transport.
