Your lighting is part of the character of your home. Whether it is a designer piece, a family heirloom, a vintage find or simply a well-made lamp that deserves proper attention, our workshop service is designed to bring it safely back into use while preserving its original character.
All work is carried out in our workshop in Stotfold by experienced technicians. We take a careful, sympathetic approach — retaining original features wherever practical and using high-quality components and wiring chosen to suit the age, construction and design of each piece.
Book with confidence
We agree the work with you before we start. When your lamp arrives, we inspect it and confirm what we recommend. Where there are visible choices — such as flex type, colour or finish — we will discuss these with you as part of agreeing the repair.
No unexpected work or charges. If the lamp needs anything unusual or outside the standard service, we contact you and agree it before carrying out the additional work.
Changed your mind? If we have not started work on your lamp, your service payment is fully refundable. Online consumer orders also carry the applicable statutory cancellation rights, including the usual 14-day cancellation period. If you ask us to begin within that period and then cancel after work has started, we may charge for the work already carried out. Your statutory rights are not affected.
Materials chosen to suit your lamp. We use high-quality components and choose cable, lampholders and fittings sympathetically to the piece — from traditional braided flex to transparent or modern PVC cable where that is more appropriate. The repair materials we use are predominantly British-made.
Work you can rely on. Lampfix repair work is guaranteed for 12 months from the electrical test date, in addition to your statutory rights.
How the service works
1. Choose your lamp type.
Select the options below that best describe your piece — including the type of fitting, number of bulbs and size band. This gives you the price for the standard service.
This service is primarily for electrical restoration and associated lighting components. If you already know that your lamp requires structural metalwork such as welding or brazing, please contact us before booking and we will help point you in the right direction.
2. Place your order online.
Book and pay for the standard service online. You can add notes or photographs at checkout if helpful, although many customers simply book the service and let us assess the lamp properly when it arrives.
Your payment covers the standard service selected. We will agree the repair with you before workshop work begins.
3. Send or bring your lamp to us.
Once ordered, arrange for your lamp to be delivered or dropped off at:
Lampfix, Unit 6, Fen End, Stotfold, SG5 4BA
If sending it, please include your order number with the lamp.
Transport to and from Lampfix is arranged by the customer and is not included in the repair-service price.
Drop-off and collection are by appointment during our weekday opening hours.
4. Assessment and sympathetic restoration.
When your lamp arrives, we inspect it and confirm what we recommend before starting work.
We will agree the repair with you, including any relevant choices such as flex type or colour, replacement lampholders or other visible components. We use high-quality materials selected to suit the age and character of the fitting and retain original features wherever practical.
If we find something that falls outside the standard service, requires specialist work, or means we are unable to carry out the repair safely, we will explain this before proceeding. If we cannot agree a suitable way forward and work has not started, your service payment will be refunded.
5. Testing and completion.
Once the agreed work is complete, the lamp undergoes PAT testing and appropriate electrical safety checks.
We normally aim to complete repair work within two weeks, subject to the availability of any special parts or additional work agreed following assessment.
Transport to and from Lampfix is arranged by the customer and is not included in the repair-service price.
We will then let you know that your lamp is ready. You can collect it by appointment or arrange its return transport.
